AU sole traders · receipt record-keeping · general information, not tax or BAS advice · A$29/mo
One Sunday nag a week. File receipts as they come. Hand your accountant a clean quarterly pack.
You're not bad at admin; admin just never reminded you. Receipt Rescue nags you every Sunday at 6pm. You snap or forward the docket; we file it under your categories and build the quarterly pack your accountant actually wants. For sole traders without payroll. One plan at A$29 per month (AUD, GST incl.), cancel anytime. It is not a tax service, not a BAS service, and never a substitute for your registered agent.
Last checked against the ATO's published quarterly BAS due dates on 2026-10-04.
This service includes: weekly receipt reminders, photo and email-forward intake, filing under your own category map, and a quarterly expense pack for your accountant. Built for sole traders without payroll.
It does NOT include: preparing or lodging BAS, giving tax advice, computing GST treatment, or replacing your registered BAS or tax agent. Not for companies, trusts, or businesses with payroll.

A quarter, on the ledger
Here is what changes, week by week.
Not features. The actual rhythm of a quarter with the nag running. If this rhythm does not describe your problem, this product is not for you.
Sunday nags keep the pile near zero. One SMS plus one email digest a week. You snap or forward the docket; your rule map files it automatically. The ambiguous ones wait in a "Needs your call" bucket. Nobody guesses on your behalf.
Reminders escalate ahead of the ATO's published quarterly BAS due dates. Firmer reminders, gap flags on missing weeks. We track the dates the ATO publishes each year (current schedule at ato.gov.au). Dates only, never tax advice.
The quarterly expense pack lands. Cover page, per-category amount totals, CSV ledger, receipt-images ZIP, gap report, accountant handover checklist. You hand it over; they do the tax part. That was always the deal. We just made your half painless.
Peek inside: the quarterly expense pack, page by page (illustrative)
- Cover page: the quarter, your categories, totals at a glance.
- Per-category amount totals: amounts only, no GST totals, no BAS labels.
- CSV ledger + receipt-images ZIP: every docket, filed and dated.
- Gap report: the weeks with nothing filed, flagged plainly.
- Accountant handover checklist: what they need from you, ticked off.
Illustrative layout. Your pack holds your own receipts and categories.
Sample: a quarterly expense pack cover page (illustrative, sample data)
QUARTERLY EXPENSE PACK · SAMPLE COVER
Quarter: Q3 2026 · Filed: 47 receipts · Missing weeks: 0
Categories: Fuel (12), Tools (6), Materials (18), Subscriptions (5), Other (6)
Files: cover page · per-category amount totals · CSV ledger · receipt-images ZIP · gap report · accountant handover checklist
Sample layout with placeholder figures, not your data. Amounts are left blank until you file your own receipts. Tax interpretation is never performed on the pack.
This sample is a layout illustration only. Your pack contains your receipts, your categories, and your amounts.
How it works
Nag, snap, filed. That is the whole product.
Our customer is the person who ignores admin. So reminders, not features, are the product.
Sunday 6pm: the nag
A weekly SMS plus email check-in: "Any receipts this week?" Escalates in the three weeks before the ATO's published quarterly due dates. Snooze or pause anytime from the preference centre: weekly, fortnightly, or deadline-only; SMS-only or email-only.
Snap or forward
Photo upload via a magic link, or just email-forward dockets to your intake address. OCR transcribes what is printed on the docket: merchant, date, total, GST shown. Never computed or guessed.
Receipts land in categories you defined at onboarding, strictly your rule map. Anything ambiguous goes in "Needs your call" for you to decide. Never ours to interpret, never tax treatment.
Honest comparison
Why not just use Hnry?
Fair question. Hnry is a registered tax agent with automated expense capture and filing, and it is good at what it does. Here is the honest math.
Stick with Hnry if…
- Hnry charges 1% + GST of income, capped at $1,500 + GST a year [published pricing at hnry.com.au/pricing, checked 2026-10-04; verify before deciding]. Below roughly $32k annual income, that works out cheaper or about even with our flat A$29/mo. Lower earners: Hnry is likely the better deal, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
- You want filing and tax calculations done for you by a registered agent.
Receipt Rescue fits if…
- You earn above ~$32k: flat A$29/mo undercuts 1%-of-income pricing, and the gap grows with income. [illustrative arithmetic on published prices]
- You already have an accountant you like. We are a nag-and-file layer on top, not a replacement. No bank-switching, no re-platforming your money.
- Your actual problem is the shoebox, not the tax return.
Honest alternatives: free and other ways to do this
| The alternative | When it beats Receipt Rescue |
|---|---|
| DIY shoebox or spreadsheet, free | If you genuinely file receipts every week without being reminded, do this and save A$29/mo. The shoebox fails on week three, not week zero; we exist for the people it fails on. |
| Your accountant sorts it at year end, at their hourly rate | If you would rather pay for one clean-up a year than nag weekly. Ask them what a messy year costs before you decide. |
| Hnry, 1% + GST of income, capped at $1,500 + GST a year (published pricing at hnry.com.au/pricing, checked 2026-10-04), a registered tax agent with automated capture and filing | Below roughly $32k annual income it is cheaper than our flat A$29/mo, and it does actual tax filing, which we never do. |
| Receipt-capture apps (for example Hubdoc, included with Xero in Australia at no extra cost per Xero's published plan terms, checked 2026-10-04, or Dext), various pricing | They file what you upload. If your problem is remembering to upload, filing software alone does not fix it. None of them sends the Sunday nag. |
Hnry pricing: 1% + GST of income, capped at $1,500 + GST a year, published at hnry.com.au/pricing and checked 2026-10-04; the $32k crossover is illustrative arithmetic on published prices. Verify current prices before deciding.
The boundary is the product. Read this before anything else.
Receipt Rescue is a record-keeping and reminder service. It is explicitly not a tax service, not a BAS service, and not a substitute for your registered BAS agent, tax agent, or accountant. All tax interpretation stays with you and your agent.
- No BAS-label figures, no GST totals, no pre-filling or reviewing BAS forms.
- No GST-treatment or claimability advice. Every tax question gets a scripted deflection to your agent.
- No lodgement with the ATO. We never hold out as a BAS agent, tax agent, accountant, or adviser.
- Not for businesses with payroll, companies or trusts, monthly BAS lodgers, or anyone who wants lodgement done for them. We will point you to a registered BAS agent instead.
Pricing
One plan, A$29/mo. No lock-in.
Every update is included while you are subscribed. Reminder schedules track the ATO dates without re-purchase.
A$29 per month, AUD GST incl. That is A$348 a year to stop digging through a shoebox every quarter. Compare it with what your accountant charges to untangle one messy year.
Illustrative comparison only: accountant fees vary widely by firm and we cannot verify a typical figure. Receipt Rescue is record-keeping and reminders, not a tax service.

This site is published by an independent Australian publisher of compliance checklists. There is no founder story and no guru: the trust mechanism is verifiability. Every factual claim traces to a named primary source with the date it was checked, and anything that cannot be traced does not go in. The methodology page shows exactly where to check each claim.
Why not just ask ChatGPT or use a free template?
You can, and for general background you should. The difference is traceability: chatbots sound confident while inventing clause numbers, and free templates rarely carry a check date. This guide cites the exact section of the exact source, checked on 2026-10-04. If a free alternative shows its sources and its check date, use it with our blessing.
Is this legal or professional advice?
No. This is general information only, not tax, BAS, or financial advice. It keeps records and reminds you; all tax interpretation stays with you and your registered agent. For advice about your situation, see a registered BAS or tax agent.
